As expected, this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show brought us a lot of crazy concepts that gave automotive enthusiasts a taste of what performance videos can do with a little love and some fine tuning. No vehicle was better represented than the Scion FR-S, making its second appearance at SEMA after taking home the Hottest Sport Compact award in its 2012 debut. Given all of the love tuners and modders the world over share for the FR-S, it should come as little surprise that it took home that same award for the second year in a row.
“We’re honored to take home the Hottest Sport Compact award two years in a row, reflecting fans’ continued excitement around the FR-S,” said Scion Corporate Manager Dave Harbuck in the brand’s official statement. “Whether here at SEMA or out on the road, the FR-S is a true enthusiast’s car. The power and possibilities for personalization inspire our owners to take this car to new levels.”
This year, Toyota brought four of its own custom FR-S vehicles to Las Vegas for display. These included the GReddy Racing FR-S Prototype that generates more than 750 horsepower (yes, you read that right), the Bulletproof FR-S Concept One powered by a Powerhouse Amuse Turbo Kit with a Borg Warner turbo, the totally transformed Urban GT Sport Coupe, and a music-inspired concept designed in part by famed DJ/producer Steve Aoki.
If you’re looking to try your hand at tuning in preparation for next year’s custom show, or if you are looking for a steady-yet-sporty ride to get you through your daily commute in more than a little bit of style, Shults Toyota has the 2013 FR-S in stock on our lot. Stop in today for a test drive and see just why this little wonder can proudly proclaim itself Hottest Sport Compact of them all.
